Suicides due to bullying by school aged children is very common. Bullying is terrible and it hurts. But its not going to stop by teaching kindness, compassion, etc. We, instead, have to teach our kids how to handle bullying--to rule the bullies rather than the bullies ruling them.
We have to teach our kids that being alone is not the worse thing in the world; that being with the in-group is not the most important thing in the world. Middle school years are the worse years of a students life when it comes to bullying.

ANIMAL BULLYING
Animals often bully each other. But people often bully animals, especially children. Bullying often leads to physical violence towards the animal.
This little bear was euthanized because his mother bullied him constantly.
Research as early as the 70's have shown that children who bully animals will also bully adults. Famous cases of serial killers have also shown that in their childhood they bullied animals and then tortured them to death.

We often only look to school aged children when we talk about bullying. That is a mistake. Bullying occurs towards people at any age. The elderly population probably are bullied much more than school aged children. Their total existence is dependent upon people living in nursing homes or with family members.
We also have work place bullying and, domestic bullying in the home. People usually don't perceive the harsh and unjust punishment or severe put down in the workplace as bullying. However, it definitely is.
